Genesis of the Green Guestbook

A computer-based guest book was a natural to replace a paper guest book for an exhibit featuring one of the twentieth century's great innovations: Route 66, America's Mother Road. But, no solution existed.

Ellie Carlson, museum curator and the exhibit designer for this exhibit, recognized a need that was broader than just this exhibit and thus was born the Green Guestbook.

The Green Guestbook provided a move away from a paper-based system to a touch-screen computer-based system that automated the collection of visitor demographics and provided an entertaining, interactive guest book for each visitor. As a fully internet-based system, it requires only minimal computer resources and thus allows the recycling of computers that have otherwise outlived their utility.
